Our Story

vpn.social started with a question that most VPN review sites can't honestly answer: who is scoring these products, and why should you trust them?

We're a team of security researchers, privacy analysts, and software engineers — several of us with backgrounds in penetration testing, network forensics, and applied cryptography. We've spent years watching the VPN review industry devolve into a pay-to-play ecosystem where affiliate commissions determine rankings and "independent" reviews are anything but.

So we built something different. Every VPN on vpn.social is purchased with our own money, tested on real devices across multiple platforms, and scored using an algorithmic system with 60+ data points across 8 weighted categories. No manual score inflation. No sponsored placements. No hidden affiliate deals shaping our recommendations.

How We're Different

We build tools, not just content. Our DNS leak test, WebRTC leak detector, IP lookup, port scanner, and other privacy tools are used by thousands of people every day. They're built and maintained by our own engineering team — not white-labeled from third parties.

Every provider is scored by the same rules. Our scoring system is fully algorithmic — no provider gets special treatment, manual score inflation, or preferential placement. The data speaks for itself.

Our methodology is public. Every category weight, every data point, every step of our testing process is documented. You can see exactly how scores are calculated and verify them yourself.
