PureVPN is a VPN service registered in the British Virgin Islands, a jurisdiction that does not require mandatory data retention. The service offers dedicated apps for most major platforms, along with manual configuration options for devices that lack native app support. This guide covers how to install and set up PureVPN across Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Linux, Fire Stick, and routers.

Windows

Visit the official PureVPN website at https://purevpn.com and navigate to the downloads section. Download the Windows installer and run the executable file. Once installation completes, launch the app and sign in with your PureVPN account credentials. From the main interface you can select a server location, choose a connection protocol such as WireGuard, OpenVPN, or IKEv2, and connect. The Windows app also includes a split tunneling feature and an internet kill switch, both accessible through the settings menu.

Mac

Download the macOS app from the PureVPN website or from the Mac App Store. Open the downloaded file and follow the installation prompts, which may ask for your system password to complete the installation of necessary network extensions. Sign in with your account details, select a server, and connect. macOS users should confirm that the required VPN permissions are granted under System Settings if the connection does not establish on the first attempt.

iOS

The PureVPN app is available on the Apple App Store. Search for PureVPN, install the app, and log in with your account credentials. On first connection, iOS will prompt you to allow the app to add VPN configurations to your device. Tap Allow to proceed. The iOS app supports IKEv2 and WireGuard protocols and allows you to set a preferred server or use the automatic selection feature.

Android

Download the PureVPN app from the Google Play Store. After installation, open the app and sign in. Android may request permission to set up a VPN connection the first time you connect — tap OK to continue. The Android app includes protocol selection and a server list organized by country and city. A kill switch option is available within the app settings.

Linux

PureVPN provides a command-line app for Linux systems. Instructions and the installation package are available in the Linux section of the PureVPN website. The setup typically involves downloading a shell script or package file, running it with appropriate permissions, and authenticating via the terminal interface. Alternatively, Linux users can configure PureVPN manually using OpenVPN by downloading the relevant configuration files from the PureVPN website and importing them into a network manager such as NetworkManager.

Amazon Fire Stick

To install PureVPN on a Fire Stick, go to the Find or Search option on your Fire Stick home screen and search for PureVPN. Select the app from the results and install it. If the app does not appear, you can enable installation from unknown sources in the Fire Stick settings and use the Downloader app to sideload the Android APK directly from the PureVPN website. Once installed, sign in and connect to a server as you would on Android.

Router

Installing PureVPN on a router applies the VPN connection to all devices on the network. PureVPN supports manual configuration on routers running DD-WRT, Tomato, and certain Asus firmware. Configuration files and step-by-step instructions for supported router models are available in the PureVPN support section. The process generally involves logging into your router's admin panel, navigating to the VPN client section, and entering the server address, credentials, and protocol settings provided by PureVPN. Some users opt for a pre-configured router, which simplifies this process. Note that router-level VPN may reduce overall network throughput depending on the router hardware.

For any platform, a valid PureVPN subscription is required before connecting. Account creation and subscription management are handled through the PureVPN website.
