Avast VPN (also marketed as Avast SecureLine VPN) is a VPN service operated by Avast Software, headquartered in the Czech Republic. If you have decided to cancel your subscription, this guide walks through the steps to do so, explains the refund policy, and covers how to manage auto-renewal settings.
How to Cancel Avast VPN
The cancellation process depends on where you originally purchased your subscription. Avast VPN can be purchased directly through Avast's website or through third-party platforms such as the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Cancelling a Direct Subscription (via Avast Website)
- Go to https://avast.com/secureline-vpn and sign in to your Avast Account using your registered email address and password.
- Navigate to the My Subscriptions section within your account dashboard.
- Locate the Avast VPN subscription you wish to cancel.
- Select the option to manage or cancel the subscription. You will typically see an option to turn off auto-renewal or cancel the plan entirely.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm your cancellation.
- You should receive a confirmation email once the cancellation has been processed. Keep this for your records.
If you are unable to find the cancellation option within your account, Avast also provides customer support through their website. You can contact them via live chat or submit a support ticket at support.avast.com.
Cancelling via Apple App Store (iOS/macOS)
- Open Settings on your Apple device and tap your Apple ID at the top.
- Select Subscriptions.
- Find Avast VPN in the list of active subscriptions.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm when prompted.
Cancelling via Google Play Store (Android)
- Open the Google Play Store app on your Android device.
- Tap your profile icon and go to Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select the Avast VPN subscription.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
Note that cancellations through the App Store or Google Play must be handled through those platforms directly. Avast cannot process refunds or cancellations for purchases made through third-party stores.
Refund Policy
Avast offers a 30-day money-back guarantee for subscriptions purchased directly through their website. If you cancel within 30 days of your initial purchase, you can request a refund by contacting Avast customer support. Refunds are generally not available for renewals or for subscriptions purchased through third-party platforms.
To request a refund, contact Avast support through the help portal at support.avast.com and provide your order details. The refund timeline will depend on your payment method and financial institution.
Managing Auto-Renewal
By default, Avast VPN subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle. To avoid being charged for a renewal you do not want, it is advisable to turn off auto-renewal well before your subscription expiry date.
You can manage auto-renewal settings by logging into your Avast Account, navigating to My Subscriptions, and toggling off the auto-renewal option for your VPN plan. Disabling auto-renewal does not cancel your current subscription immediately — you will retain access until the end of the paid period.
If you were charged for a renewal you did not intend, contact Avast support as soon as possible, as refund eligibility for renewals may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
